Framing Beautiful Things

I love the idea of beautiful objects framed so they can be enjoyed everyday. The scarf in Ivanka Trump's house framed above reminded me of the beautiful vintage neck pieces my friend purchased on a trip to Georgia in the US which would look beautiful framed like the ones below.

Orchids

My dad grows the most beautiful orchids and up until now I have killed a few which hasn't gone over too well. Recently he helped me pick a new one from an orchid show and it is growing beautifully (touch wood). I am very proud as it has started spouting a new spike with a couple of flowers, if all goes well I hope to have a grouping like the one above but I had better start with 1.

Rubie Green Intern

Some very lucky person is going to have so much fun as a Rubie Green Intern in New York. I wish it was me.

Vintage Poster Love

I love love love this poster, I had originally seen it about 3 years ago in New York and didn't buy it, and I have just found it again at the amazing www.galeriemontmartre.com but my husband doesn't get it, so I am trying to convince him. Yes it is big, yes it is bold but it talks to me. Wish me luck.

Yellow Kitchen Love

My girlfriend is looking to put splashes of yellow into their kitchen and I instantly remembered these photos which have a fairly neutral white kitchen and then that amazing yellow stove which sets the mood for the paintings. Love such bold use of colour.

Alternatively here are a few more subdued options

I love ...

I am loving Stephanie Conley's apartment in this month's Vogue Living, the colour, fabrics and sophistication of it make me want more than what is on the pages. I would love to sit in the chairs, see the kitchen (fancy not including it), and have a cocktail on the balcony.

Whilst I am not a lover of orange this combination could turn me, all the fabrics are beautiful, and make such a statement. I can see this in my friend Allana's bedroom.
Perfect outdoor furniture, and beautiful fabric. Good on you Coco Republic, another thing to add to my wish list.

This is the perfect kitchen dining area for me, I love the table, chairs and the fun Audrey poster. Those chairs might not be the best for the kids in my life but we can't have it all.

She is beautiful as well, figures.
Ohhhh, need I say more.
And the cover picture, what a great combination. So much inspiration.

New Look

I decided a needed a chair in my heading, so this is my favourite chair which I bought at a New York Flea Market in the upper west side. It was one of those things that you see and don't buy but then can't stop thinking about. The next couple of weeks it was raining so the markets were cancelled, I eventually went back bright and early and it was still there much to my delight. My husband started trying to bargain but I said 'I will take it' as soon as another lady started showing interest, he wasn't very impressed.

This is another chair love from the Sydney Morning Herald a couple of weeks ago. The chairs were found in an antique shop in Annandale (just down the road) but covered in my favourite Trellis fabric. I am not a lover of orange but I do love this combination.

She is about to pop...

Jill (my beautiful sister in law) went to a baby shower recently and sent me these photos, what a gorgeous event, so much care and thought went into the detail. Nice to see red used for a baby shower instead of the traditional pink and blue.

Bentwood Beauty

I haven't even been to Rafan Kelaher and Thomas yet this weekend and already I can't wait to look at this Bentwood Hall stand. I can just imagine it looking beautiful with a gorgeous wallpaper behind it like in Shannon Fricke beautiful Byron Bay home and her beautiful bentwood chair.

A Pair of Featherstons

This week at Raffan Kelaher and Thomas in Leichhardt they have not one but a pair of Grant Featherston Contour Chairs available. Grant Featherston is an Iconic Australian Designer who designed this range of chairs on a tram in Melbourne. The Contour chair above is my favourite Featherston chair, although I did buy a Featherston Office Chair purely because nobody else bid and I couldn't see it sitting there unloved, so I bought it for $20 but I have still to recover it and do it up. Can't you just imagine these two all glamed up in a beautiful home. I posted some time ago about the one in the Paul and Joe store in Bondi Junction in gold velvet but I love the first picture in plain white. I hope they go to someone who will love them.

Aeroplane Wall Art

I am in love with this wonderful collection of aeroplanes from a book in the home of Dwell Studio's creator Jennifer Chused. Does anyone know what the book is at all? I would love to replicate this look in my son's bedroom.

Beautiful Kids Beds

At Raffan Kelaher and Thomas Auction House this week they have two very similar cedar single beds for sale, wouldn't they look beautiful, side by side in a child's room.

Wedding Love

One of my close friends is getting married which has sparked my interest in wedding design again. After my own marriage I seriously considered buying the styling business who styled our wedding but we lived in a different state so it didn't work out. Some times I look back and think about how it would have ended up if I had gone down that track. Anyway my girlfriend is very relaxed about the whole thing that I can imagine this type of photo would be beautiful for her.

Colour Me Happy

I love a colourful door, it is like a little shot of happiness greeting when you get home. I do however have a black door with chunky gold trims which I also love but do look forward to one day having the right house to pull off this look.

Sebastian's Bed Before and After

Here are a couple of before and after photos of Sebastian's new bed. We purchased the bed on ebay for .99cents plus a can of paint for $30 and a lot of hard work from my husband. Sebastian is now very pleased with the result as you can see, his now loves looking out the window spying on the unsuspecting neighbour behind us.

My Favourite Neighbourhood House

On my neighbourhood walks I have always stopped and looked longingly at this house. It is now being renovated and the owners know exactly what they are doing, they are restoring it beautifully. I would give my right arm to have a walk through once it is finished so I am hoping they will sell it however it doesn't have the look about a property renovated to sell more like a property renovated with love.

My new Chandelier

I am always a sucker for a chandelier so when I spotted this one last weekend at the Auction house Raffan Kelahar and Thomas in Leichhardt with pink droplets I was hyperventilating in desire. We put it up this weekend and I am thrilled with the result. This is our entrance way into our terrace house so it is only a metre wide, now to find the perfect thin table so we can still get the stroller in and out.

Collette Dinnigan's Home

Collette Dinnigan has her beautiful Paddington Terrace for sale. What an exquisite property, I would love to have a look through it but I think my swooning might give me away as a fake buyer.

This is my favourite image, very peaceful, refined elegance.
