Silhouettes

I am currently doing up my outdoor toilet, it was a hideous shade of lime green and shocking pink that I painted 8 years ago when we were renovating and living in a horrible mess. I guess I must of wanted some cheering up and figured the bright colours could help. So now it is well overdue for a change. I have the walls painted white and was thinking of doing black and white stripes but maybe this would work.

Mum and Dad's Anniversary

Today is my Mum and Dad's Anniversary, they have been married for 38 years. I can only hope my husband and I make it to 38 years with as much love and friendship as they have. Congratulations Mum and Dad! And don't they look beautiful.

Balmain Window

Yesterday I went to Balmain with my mum and I fell in love with this mirror in one of the stores. It has been converted from an old gate and really looks beautiful.

The flower shot was just because the colour looks great and it reminded me of all the corner shops in New York selling flowers. It was also great yesterday to see all the magnolia and blossoms not only because they are beautiful but because it means Spring is getting closer.

Le Forge

Yesterday I went to see Le Forge, a store in Sydney that specialises in crafted hand forged furniture. They really do have some beautiful pieces and I love this shot on their website above.

Grant Featherston Chair

Sorry for the small photo but this chair a Grant Featherston Contour Chair is available this week from the Auction House Raffan Kelaher and Thomas in Leichhardt on Tuesday at around 10am. If I could get it passed my husband I would definitely buy it. I have attached a picture of the same chair done up at the Paul and Joe store in Bondi Junction. It looks amazing in a gold velvet.

Hemmes, Ivy

I am loving the look of the new venture from Justin Hemmes 'Ivy'. I used to work close to the Establishment and have long liked his designs for Establishment and once stayed at the Establishment Hotel and loved every minute of it so when I heard he opened Ivy I was itching to see the decor. I am going this week so will be great to see it in person but here are a few pictures from Vogue Living May/June.

Yellow is not a colour I would use in my own house but I love it used here with the classic black and white and of course I love the turquoise.

Not too precious

I had a reminder this morning not to be too precious. I have two little boys so I am used to making sure the playdoh isn't on socks before we trample all over the house. However this morning after sitting down to my morning coffee I walked into the playroom and Sebastian had all of his puzzles out of the cupboard and on to the floor and promptly thought the best spot for him was to sit in the cupboard with a look of achievement. The beautiful cupboards are a antique bookcase which I am in the process of doing up but I couldn't help but smile at how clever he thought he was. Kind of like how I feel after each coat of paint.

Wallpaper

I saw this posting on http://swishandswanky.blogspot.com/ today and fell in love. This is my all time favourite wallpaper. It is Osborne and Little Spring 2005 range and is called Asuka. I have so many pictures of bedrooms or dressing rooms done in this wallpaper and I can't stop looking at them. I have attached a few of my favourites. As we have plans to sell our house I can't convince my husband that we NEED a feature wall in our bedroom but as soon as we have our next house this wallpaper will be going up. But I love a filing cabinet done using it and there are instructions on how to do it. I might be ranting but I really do love this wallpaper.

Laundry

Perhaps I am thinking of laundries today because I am doing lots of washing and I have a laundry cupboard not a laundry room but this is what I am obsessing over today. The room needs a little personality, maybe some baskets, and a nice picture but I would love it all the same.

What started it all

My love of interiors or when it got to the stage that I started making files and organising myself began with Carolyn Quartermaine. A long time ago I had started clipping rooms that inspired me and when I had a few I realised that a large percentage of them were taken in the same room but decorated differently and they were all from Carolyn Quartermain. When in the May/June edition of Vogue featured Carolyn Quartermaine I was thrilled to re-explore her talents again and they are still so inspiring and I can't take my eyes off them.


I apologise that these photos were cut and so long ago that I can't give credit to which magazine they came from.

That Chair Has Buttons

I am a first time blogger so bear with me but hopefully it won't take me to long to get in the swing of things.

Firstly I thought I should explain my strange name. I bought a Grant Featherston Office Chair at an Auction House for $20, an absolute bargain. And I have been trying to find the right fabric to cover it with. Yesterday when I discovered that there are hundreds and thousands of like minded design loving people blogging I found a beautiful picture of a very similiar chair and fell in love with the fabric and the entire picture. Anyway I went to bed last night so excited by all the great blogsites I had found and still thinking about my chair and when my husband came up apparently I started telling him 'That Chair Has Buttons' and pointing to my chair in the corner. So when he told me this morning I thought that my site would have to be called that.
